Dear Terry,
With sincere congratulations on this singular honour. You have served our profession in an exemplary fashion, but even more notably, your example has inspired successive generations of students. This includes former graduate students such as myself, who felt your profound influence and appreciated your thoughtful commentary even if we never had the pleasure of studying directly with you.
All the very best, Terry.

Terry, well done and long overdue. I will be there with you tomorrow at Laurier. Michael Boire, Loyola '71
Dear Terry,
Congratulations on this long overdue and deeply deserved recognition. Your writing and teaching has had a profoundly positive impact on the lives of so many over the course of your distinguished career. Canada is truly a better place thanks to your tireless commitment to mentorship, active learning, and first principles scholarship. I am so grateful for the investment you made in me, and the critical role the Centre played in steering me towards a bright future beyond academia. I know countless others share similar feelings, wherever their careers may have taken them.
All the best as you celebrate this wonderful milestone!

Wonderful and well-deserved news, Terry. Sorry I can't be there to join the celebrations. I still have my treasured copy of RG Collingwood, The Idea of History, from 3rd year undergraduate as a material token of your tremendous example as teacher, mentor, and scholar. Jeff
Please accept my heartfelt congratulations Terry. This is a much deserved recognition and honour for a career that transformed our collective memory and understanding of Canada's military history. Would love to be able to join you for the event, but please know that Kirsten and I are there in spirit. All the best,
Prof. Copp - Congratulations on this richly deserved honour. You were a wonderful advisor and guide through the MA process and I treasured my time at Laurier and the chance that I had to receive your wisdom. Enjoy the accolades!
Congratulations Terry. Well deserved.
Wish I could be there.

Warmest congratulations on this national recognition, but I still treasure my copy of The Anatomy of Poverty which my undergrads at UofT considered the best book on their course list. You've done much distinguished scholarship and your tours of the beaches and guides for students and all others are equally important contributions to our understanding of our country.
Bravo that you are being feted and regrets for absence. Lorna

Congratulations, Terry on being inducted in the membership of the Order of Canada. It's more than timely and richly deserved. You have been a brilliant scholar, inspirational teacher, and one of the most generous and compassionate person that I have met in the world. And, I treasure highly the time in your graduate seminars on war and society at WLU.
Congratulations Terry on being made a Member of the Order of Canada. It’s a well deserved honour given your immense influence on Canadian military historiography, the students you have taught and the innumerable historians you have mentored. Your touch has gone far.
It has always been a pleasure to work with Terry and see his efforts to promote new avenues of scholarship, particularly among younger scholars. Sincere congratulations on his appointment to the Order of Canada.
My heartiest congratulations on a most thoroughly deserved honour.
Terry,
Would love to be there to celebrate this richly deserved honour, but my teaching schedule won't allow it. Well done, old bean! I couldn't be happier.

Congratulations, Terry. Yours was the greatest contribution to Canadian military history of the last half century, and you more than earned the recognition.
Congratulations to Professor Copp. I am proud of my M.A. in military history from WLU and even prouder to have been able to learn from such an exalted expert who made learning exciting and exhilarating. A brilliant Thesis advisor who truly provides a pure learning opportunity. A great man.
Dear Terry,
Congratulations on receiving this long-overdue recognition and award! You have inspired generations of military history and other scholars in this country and I am proud to be counted among them.
