The Laurier Centre for the Study of Canada is accepting sponsorships for the 34th Canadian Military History Colloquium (CMHC).

history

The CMHC has been held annually or biannually for close to 30 years. Hundreds of students, academics, amateur historians, veterans and active service personnel have attended, learning from each other and from speakers like historian Jack Granatstein, Dieppe veteran and DSO recipient Denis Whitaker, international scholars like Elizabeth Greenhalgh, and colloquium founder Terry Copp.

format

The colloquium begins with the C.P. Stacey Plenary Address and will include some 40 (est.) papers on a variety of topics, with emphasis this year on the history of the RCAF. Richard Mayne, Chief Historian and Director of RCAF History and Heritage will deliver the keynote address on Friday following the banquet. Exhibitors will be set up in the main reception area.

why be a sponsor?

Sponsors will benefit from visibility at the largest military history conference in Canada, this year a focal point for academic work on the centenary of the RCAF.

Sponsorship will also benefit military history / war and society scholarship in Canada. The CMHC is an important venue for:

  • collaborative work: students, amateur historians and early career researchers meet, present alongside, and benefit from the feedback of leaders in the field
  • attracting new talent: a collegial atmosphere encourages the next generation of military historians in Canada
  • public engagement: the CMHC is the rare academic conference that attracts interested members of the public, many with family ties to Canada’s military history
